Orpheus was the most talented musician in the ancient world and was known to enchant any living creature with his music, even the gods themselves. Even greater than his talent was his love for his wife Eurydice. One day, Eurydice was bitten by a snake and fell into the underworld. Thanks to his music, Orpheus managed to get the gods’ promise that Eurydice will go back to the land of the living on the condition that he walks in front of her, without turning back to look at her until they come out. He was faced with encounters and assignments on his descent until the moment they finally met. But on their way out, struck by sudden doubt of the gods’ promise, of yearning Eurydice and of passion – Orpheus could not control himself and glanced at her face. Eurydice faded away into thin air, whispering "farewell my love" and disappeared forever.
Orpheus died of a broken heart.
